What is BPC-157
If you want to buy BPC-157 capsules, it is of course useful to know what it is. BPC 157 is a penta-decapeptide, consisting of 15 amino acids. It is a partial sequence of the body protective agent (BPC) discovered in and isolated from human gastric fluid. Animal studies have shown that it accelerates the healing of various wounds, including muscle, tendon and damaged ligaments. Additionally, BPC 157 has been shown to protect organs and aid in the prevention of stomach ulcers.
BPC-157 works systemically in the digestive system to combat leaky gut, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), gastrointestinal cramps and Crohn’s disease. This peptide exhibits analgesic characteristics. Research has shown that it accelerates the healing of skin burns by increasing blood flow to damaged tissue. BPC-157 significantly accelerates reticulin and collagen formation, as well as angiogenesis, along with macrophage stimulation and fibroblast infiltration, which is a potential therapeutic tool in the treatment of wound healing.
BPC-157, abbreviated for Body Protection Compound-157, is a derivative of the body protection compound (BPC). BPC is a protein that naturally occurs in the human digestive system. It plays an important role in protecting the lining of the gastrointestinal tract from damage, promoting healing and stimulating blood vessel growth.
Effects of BPC-157
BPC-157 and wound healing
The natural function of BPC in the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract) is to maintain the integrity of the mucosal barrier that protects underlying tissues from the damaging effects of stomach acid, bile and other substances necessary for digestion and absorption of nutrients from food. At least part of this function is via the recruitment of fibroblasts. BPC-157 has a dose-dependent effect on fibroblast proliferation in culture and in vivo, causing cells to proliferate and migrate more quickly. Fibroblasts are essential for wound healing as they are responsible for depositing extracellular matrix proteins such as collagen, fibrin, elastin and more.
Vascular Growth and Collateralization
BPC-157 and Tendon healing
Given BPC-157’s role in fibroblast recruitment and blood vessel growth, it is no surprise that BPC-157 has shown positive results in animal models of tendon, ligament, bone and other connective tissue injuries. Injuries to tendons and ligaments heal slowly, largely due to poor blood flow to these tissues. Poor blood supply slows the speed at which fibroblasts and other wound healing cells can reach the area of the injury. This can be limiting in terms of the overall level of recovery. Both in vitro and in vivo studies in rat tendons have shown that BPC-157 promotes collateralization and increases fibroblast density in the event of injuries to tendons, ligaments and bones. This study states that BPC-157 is more effective than bFGF, EFG and VGF hormones in promoting healing in these tissues.
Experiments with FITC-phalloidin staining have shown that BPC-157 is a potent stimulator of F-actin formation in fibroblasts. F-actin is essential for cell structure and function, and plays an important role in cell migration. Western blotting analysis indicates that BPC-157 increases phosphorylation of paxillin and FAK proteins. These proteins are very critical proteins in the cell migration pathway.
Antioxidant Properties
Research in rats has shown that BPC-157 can neutralize certain markers of oxidative stress such as nitric oxide and malondialdehyde (MDA). This makes BPC-157 a very powerful antioxidant! Research shows that this can reduce the production of reactive oxygen species in the gastrointestinal tract. Research into whether modified lactococcus lactis bacteria can transport BPC-157 to the gastrointestinal tract shows that the bacteria dramatically increase levels of the peptide in cell culture.
BPC-157 and Side effects of medicines
Often the limiting factor when using medical drugs is the side effects. For example, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen cannot be used for long periods of time because they increase the risk of stomach bleeding and heart attack. The ability to counteract side effects while maintaining desired effects would enhance therapeutic benefits of various drugs. BPC-157 has been shown to counteract side effects of NSAIDs, medications used for psychiatric conditions, and some heart medications.
